At Augustsson Ranches, we embody more than just a business—we carry forward a family legacy. Our story begins with John Augustsson, a Swedish immigrant who came to Canada in the late 19th century to work on the railroad. Seeking new opportunities, he settled in the prairies of Saskatchewan, where he laid the foundation for future generations. While John was working on the railway, another man began receiving his paycheques, leading him to legally change his last name to Ahlstrom. Despite this, the family business keeps the Augustsson name to honour his heritage.

Guided by the principles John established—hard work, loyalty, and integrity—we have built deep roots in Alberta, with our operations extending through the cattle regions of Idaho and Texas. Our history reflects generations committed to building a sustainable and enduring enterprise. We operate with purpose—not only to conduct business but to preserve and advance a lasting tradition.

Today, the business is led by Shane Ahlstrom, who has involved his family in its operations, including his wife Julie and their four children. This family involvement strengthens our commitment and ensures that our values and vision are carried forward through the next generation.
